This presentation explains how protected areas influence fire regimes globally. Based on the analysis of more than 20 million fires worldwide, the study shows that protected areas generally experience less burned area than unprotected land, although patterns vary across biomes and protection levels. In some regions, strictly protected areas can also experience larger or more intense fires. The findings help inform fire management and conservation policies.
