A “brigadista” (civilian wildland firefighter) from a Quilombola community engaged in active wildfire suppression at Chapada dos Veadeiros National Park. The brigadista uses a backpack blower (to reduce fire intensity by removing oxygen and slowing flame spread) while working at the fire front as part of field-based wildfire response efforts in a protected area.
